Situated in Damariscotta, on one of the most unspoiled peninsulas on the rocky coast of Maine, The Down Easter Inn is minutes from swimming, boating, fishing, and antiquing.  Nearby, a variety of restaurants, including lobster wharfs, offer delicious local fare.  Boat trips around beautiful Muscongus Bay, Pemaquid Point, and to Monhegan Island are within easy reach.  We are also convenient to the Boothbay Harbor Region, Augusta Historic sites, Freeport outlet shops, and the Camden Harbor area.

We are open seasonally, beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Columbus Day weekend. Peak season is July and August so reserving early for those months is suggested. Limited schedules may apply in early Summer and in Fall.

A unique example of Greek Revival architecture, the main house of The Down Easter Inn was built circa 1850 by Gilmore Huston, a ship chandler whose ancestors were among the first settlers of Bristol.  The two story porch fronting it is framed by magnificent hand-carved columns with fluted shafts rising 25 feet from bases resting on solid granite blocks and topped by elaborate Corinthian capitals.
