SEA KAYAK IN MAINE - MAINE SEA KAYAKING TRIPS

Maine sea kayaking trips are provided as either half, full, and multi-day sea kayak trips. We also offer Maine Kayak Rentals with everything you need to have a fun and safe Maine kayaking adventure. Come enjoy a day of sun and fun sea kayaking along Maine’s rocky, scenic coast. Maine’s coast has a rich history and tradition that is best experienced from the water in a sea kayak. Watch lobsterman setting traps, paddle among old shipwrecks, or enjoy a stop at one of Maine’s many charming, uninhabited islands – truly jewels of the sea. Maine Kayak takes full advantage of sea kayaking locations that are both scenic and convenient vacation destinations for many Maine visitors such as Muscongus Bay and Johns Bay. Sea kayaking Maine’s coast with seals, ospreys, puffins and whales with friends makes life long memories.

Maine Kayak offers three specialized eco-tourism trips to provide you with an amazing outdoor experience:

Sunset Paddle - Our sunset paddle provides individuals with the opportunity to enjoy a calm evening on the water, taking in the wondrous colors of the sky reflected in the ocean as the sun sets in the harbor.  Trips meet at 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, or 7:00 pm and run for approximately 2 hours and are weather dependent.

Wildlife Paddle - This trip focuses on the incredible variety of birds, fish, and mammals present in the Gulf of Maine.  Learn about terns, ospreys, guillemots, and gulls.  Watch eagles fishing from schools of blue fish.  Discover the playfulness and inquisitiveness of seals.  A perfect combination of a calm relaxing paddle with exciting discoveries.  Morning and afternoon trips available.

Half-Day tours will begin with a brief introduction to sea kayaks, safety gear, and equipment. Skills such as boat handling, paddle placement and strokes, and self-rescue maneuvers will be taught while enjoying a leisurely paddle. Maine Kayak takes full advantage of the sheltered harbors and deep bays of the Maine coast to provide our customers approximately 4 hours of sea kayaking bliss. All half-day trips begin at 9:00 am – please call our friendly office staff for meeting locations.

Full-Day tours begin with basic kayak maneuvers, similar to the half-day format. This trip is designed to offer the proper paddling skills needed to enjoy a day on the water. We will paddle in the morning and take a break for a real Maine lobster lunch. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent discovering secluded coves and sheltered bays, paddling around wild rock islands, and exploring wildlife-abundant estuaries. All full-day trips meet at 9:00 am – please call our friendly office staff for directions and meeting locations.

Two-Day Maine Island Overnight kayaking offers the opportunity to enjoy paddling the majestic Maine coastline with an added night spent under the stars on one of Maine’s beautiful secluded coastal islands. Basic paddling skills, boating technique, and safety will be taught in the morning of day one. We will enjoy a day of kayaking the open sea to a remote island destination. A full gourmet meal is prepared ocean-side and enjoyed while watching the gorgeous sunset. All camping equipment (except personal sleeping gear) is provided and your guides’ cater to your every need. Awake to freshly prepared wild Maine blueberry pancakes and French pressed coffee at sunrise in preparation for another day of paddling. Overnight courses are available with a minimum group size of 2, or join an existing trip, and can be customized to the abilities and desires of the participants.

Our Inn to Inn Trips are offered as Two-Day and Four-Day coastal Maine Bed and Breakfast sojourns. Enjoy paddling the splendor of sheltered bays and rocky coastlines during the day while enjoying the comfort of hot showers and soft, cozy beds in the evenings. Basic paddling skills, boating technique, and safety will be taught in the morning of day one before enjoying a Two-Day bed and breakfast trip or a Four-Day coastal inn to inn adventure. Coastal Inn to Inn trips are available with a minimum group size of 2, or join an existing trip.

The Two-Day bed and breakfast will begin with an enjoyable day of kayaking and island hopping, with a stop for a sea side picnic lunch, on our way to our Christmas Cove bed and breakfast destination. Dinner is enjoyed coveside while soaking in the sights of the bay. We will paddle through scenic Johns Bay and Pemaquid Harbor on our second day after a hearty breakfast, taking in the sights and sounds of this historic harbor.

The Four-Day Inn to Inn trip will begin the same as the Two-Day bed and breakfast trip. After a delicious breakfast on the morning of day two, we will enjoy a scenic and leisurely paddle to Linekin Bay and Boothbay Harbor, with an island stop for a picnic lunch, on our way to welcome coastal resort retreat and gourmet dinner. Enjoy coffee and pastries overlooking the scenery of Boothbay before setting out for another full day of sea kayaking. Day three will be spent exploring the inlets and islands of Boothbay Harbor and the Damariscotta River, complete with sea side picnic, on our way back to Christmas Cove for another wonderful bed and breakfast stay. Wake to fresh coffee on the inn's harborside porch - a wonderful way to begin the last day on the water. Day four will be spent enjoying scenic Johns Bay and Pemaquid Harbor on our way back home.
