Maine Kayak's Intermediate White Water Course is designed for boaters who wish to take their paddling abilities to the next level. The Intermediate Course focuses on the needs of the skilled whitewater boater who wishes to refine their technique and is designed to help paddlers expand their rodeo and playboating abilities. The Intermediate Course is individualized to each student's skill level and concentrates on what each paddler wishes to accomplish. As such, this course is offered on the river best suited to the students' learning objectives. For our intermediate section, participants should have an advanced beginner knowledge of whitewater paddling and accomplished an Eskimo roll in current.
Day One will begin in the morning with an on-water evaluation. During this time, the needs of all participants will be determined to properly cater the course to each individual. We will also review basic skills to ensure that each student has developed proper and safe form as a kayaker. After completing the morning session, we will go to the river for an afternoon of whitewater fun!
MAINE WHITWATER KAYAKING INTERMEDIATE - DAY TWO
On the morning of Day Two, we will go to the river to work on identifying river hazards and review whitewater rescue techniques. This will prepare us for an afternoon of running whitewater and learning play boating skills. We will explore our options of running other Maine rivers in the area for a day of whitewater skill development while seeing new and exciting rivers. This optional river trip will depend on Mother Nature and the collective goals of the students. We will focus on advanced whitewater kayaking skills throughout this course. Come paddle with us!
