Where can we stay? Maine Kayak offers camping, cabins, and B&B packages or options for all courses.
Where are the courses and trips? All of our whitewater courses are offered on the Penobscot River just south of Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin in Maine. The Kennebec Sampler is offered on the Kennebec River. Lake touring trips are offered on Pemaquid Lake or Biscay Pond. Sea kayaking tours are primarily offered at Muscongus Bay and Johns Bay.
Do I need any experience? No, courses and trips are designed to give anyone an opportunity to enjoy kayaking in Maine.
Is lunch included? Yes, a river lunch is provided with all whitewater courses and full day lake touring trips. Full day sea kayaking trips provide a real Maine lobster bake.
What should I bring? You should bring a bathing suit and shorts, change of clothes, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, watershoes or sandals, water-proof camera, and a fun attitude.
How far is it? Travel times vary by course. Please check out our directions page for exact travel times from Boston and Portland, Maine.
Is there an age limit? The age limit is 16 yrs old for the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced whitewater courses and private instruction. All lake and sea kayaking trips have an age limit of 10 years with an adult.
