maine sea kayakMaine Sea Kayak Trips - Maine Kayak Maine Kayak offers half-day and full-day trips on Biscay Pond and Pemaquid Lake in the Pemaquid Point region of the Maine coast.  The historic Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (featured on the Maine state quarter) marks the entrance to Johns Bay and Muscongus Bay.

Johns Bay - includes the Pemaquid and Johns Rivers and is surrounded by granite ledges and lush evergreens.  A haven for seabirds, Johns Bay is home to ospreys, guillemots, and gulls.  Johns Bay offers a wide range of sea kayaking experiences. The upper reaches of the Johns River and the Pemaquid River offer a protected and pleasant paddle, exploring the picturesque shoreline and quaint seaside cottages. The lower Pemaquid River offers views of historic Colonial Pemaquid and Fort William Henry, built in 1692.  Johns Bay is also home to several uninhabited islands such as the Witch Island Audubon Sanctuary.  We offer half-day, full-day, and naturalist tours on beautiful Johns Bay.

Muscongus Bay KayakingMuscongus Bay - the perfect sea kayaking getaway, the harbor is well protected by the scenic islands of the Maine Island Trail.  Muscongus Bay is resplendent with wildlife including seabirds and seals - enjoy guillemots, eiders, cormorants and gulls sunning themselves on the bays many rocky outcroppings, watch ospreys and loons fishing in protected pools, enjoy the playfulness and inquisitiveness of seals.  Paddle along the shores of the many islands of the Maine Island Trail both large and small- Strawberry, Hog, Louds, Thief, Cow, Wreck, and Harbor-encircled by a spruce coastline and stop for a picnic lunch.  Be lulled to sleep by a buoy bell underneath the stars.  And check out the 100 year old shipwreck of the Cora Cressy, a former five masted schooner.  We offer half-day, full-day and multi-day overnight trips on scenic, secluded Muscongus Bay.

Biscay Pond - Enjoy a relaxing paddle while viewing some of Maine's abundant birds such as eagles, geese, loons, ducks, and osprey.  Bring a rod to partake of one of Maine's most prized brown trout fisheries.  Fall's amazing palette reflected in the pond waters provide a scenic wonder.  We offer half-day and full-day trips on Biscay Pond.

Pemaquid Lake - This serene and tranquil body of water in mid-coast Maine is surrounded by lush forested shorelines, quaint cottages and summer camps, and extensive freshwater wetlands.  Paddle up into abundant tributaries surrounded by cattails and blue flag iris flowers.  Listen to peeper frogs, loons and warblers.  Pemaquid Lake is truly a freshwater gem.  We offer half-day and full-day trips on Pemaquid Lake.

MAINE WHITEWATER KAYAK SCHOOL

Maine Whitewater KayakRiver Kayak School - Maine Kayak offers whitewater kayak instruction for all skill levels and abilities.  We have a course designed for every interest from easy moving water youth trips on the Kennebec River to multi-day whitewater intensive courses on the Penobscot River from Beginner to Advanced and private instruction.

Kennebec River - its name means "long quiet waters" in the Abnaki Indian language, this river provides miles of class I - IV whitewater and can be anything but quiet.  The upper gorge section of the Kennebec River provides 8 miles of continuous class II - IV whitewater with plenty of play spots and eddies.  Advanced boater private instruction can be arranged on the Kennebec River.  Youth trips are offered on the lower section of the Kennebec on easy moving waters and are designed to introduce families and kids to the fundamentals of kayaking and enjoying a relaxing day on the water.  The Kennebec River is largely undeveloped with gorgeous rocky shorelines and big shade trees.  We offer private instruction and youth trips on the Kennebec River.

Penobscot River KayakingPenobscot River - this meandering river runs through some of the most beautiful, scenic, and remote forestlands of Maine.  Bordered to the northeast by Baxter State Park, this river provides a consistent instructional forum all season long as a result of scheduled dam releases.  Rapids range from class I - V and easy access from private roads allows instructors to tailor each course to the needs and abilities of the students.  The Penobscot River, "the place of the descending rocks", is shadowed by Maine's tallest mountain, Mount Katahdin, and is characterized by high cliff gorge walls, breathtaking views, and world class whitewater.  We offer Beginner to Advanced whitewater instruction and private instruction on the Penobscot River.
